Ondine (Jolene cover)
The similarities between Jolene and Ondine the nymph are striking. In the original song from 1973, Dolly Parton addresses her husband’s red-haired temptress:
I’m begging of you please don’t take my man.
In Ondine (Jolene Cover), Julia Marcell borrows Dolly’s invocation and appeals to the cursed Ondine on behalf of all parents of children with CCHS. Every day they kiss their kids goodnight and helplessly repeat the mantra:
Please don’t take him just because you can.
Will Ondine hear their desperate prayers? Will she relent and take back her curse?
